Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! Each week we get together and share what books we received in our mailboxes last week. Anyone is welcome to participate and this month our host is Passages to the Past. Be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to towering TBR piles and out-of-control wish lists!

It's been busy here and it's been a couple of weeks since I participated in Mailbox Monday, but I'm back! Last week I received absolutely no books in the mail, but this week more than made up for it. Here are the goodies that I found in the ol' mailbox:

Mothers and Daughters by Rae Meadows: This was an unsolicited review copy, but one that I was quite happy to receive as I've been seeing this in other's mailboxes and it looks really good. This also came with a bonus audio CD.

My Dear I Wanted to Tell You by Louisa Young

An Atlas of Impossible Longing by Anuradha Roy

Confetti Confidential by Holly McQueen

Already Home by Susan Mallery

The Goodbye Quilt by Susan Wiggs

Whew! Apparently I have some reading to do... That was what was in my mailbox last week- what was in yours?

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! Each week we share which books we got in the mail the previous week, and anyone is welcome to join in. This month our host is I'm Booking It, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to overflowing TBR piles and out-of-control wish lists!

There was only one book in my mailbox last week, but it's a good one. I'm quite excited to read it! I have to admit that I'm in a bit of a blogging slump at the moment, which I know happens to everyone from time to time, but I hope that I snap out of it soon! I've been reading piles of books, but actually sitting down and writing the reviews seems to take more time than I have. It just seems like there are so many other things taking up my time: I've started a new workout program, my kids are young and busy, and my general household duties always seem to need attention. I have confidence that this is just a phase, though, and since the kids and I are off for March Break this week hopefully I'll be able to start reviewing again.

The book that I received last week was:

The Boyfriend of the Month Club by Maria Geraci. It came along with a really cool fridge magnet and some other swag. I love author swag!!!!

That's it for me for last week- what was in your mailbox??

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday, the place where we share what made it into our mailboxes the previous week. Anyone is welcome to participate, and this month our host is I'm Booking It, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to towering TBR piles and out-of-control wish lists!!

Last week I didn't participate because my children were all under the weather, so this post covers the books that I got in the past two weeks. Unfortunately my husband and I have both succumbed to whatever it is that they have and now we're sick. I'm all drugged up on OTC cold medication, so hopefully I should be able to resume blogging this week.

Several books have made their way into my house in the past two weeks. My sole arrival last week was a copy of Family Meeting by Miles DeMott.

This week I received a copy of Little Princes: One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Children of Nepal by Conor Grennan. This one has been receiving a lot of buzz and I'm excited to get to it.

I also received a copy of Here, Home, Hope, author Kaira Rouda's debut novel. I just love the cover of this one, so peaceful!

I also received an eCopy of The Scent of Jade by Dee DeTarsio for review at a later time.

That's it for my mailbox and inbox last week- what was in yours?

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! Each week we share which books we got in the mail the previous week, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to towering TBR piles and out-of-control wish lists. Mailbox Monday is on tour and this month our host is Library of Clean Reads. Thanks Laura!

Last week brought one new print book into my home and two new eBooks. It was a slightly quieter book week than last week, which is giving me the chance to catch up on my own towering TBR pile!

My print book arrival came courtesy of Sourcebooks. The Queen of New Beginnings by Erica James looks like one that I won't be able to put down once I pick it up! (Note: The cover of my ARC is different than this one, but I was unable to find the same one as my cover online).

Fourteen Days Later by Sibel Hodge came courtesy of the author for future review. It has gotten some great reviews on Goodreads and I'm excited to read it.

Spinning by Michael Baron also arrived in my inbox for future review. I've enjoyed Michael Baron's novels in the past and am looking forward to this one as well.

That's it for my mailbox! What was in yours??

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! Each week we share which books came in the mail the previous week, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to towering TBR piles and out-of-control wish lists! Mailbox Monday is on tour and this month our host is Laura of Library of Clean Reads.

My mailbox was a busy one last week, and I certainly won't complain!

First to arrive were two books that were a contest win from Julie at Knitting and Sundries. Julie was kind enough to send sneak an additional book from my wishlist in there so the package from her contained The Transformation of Things by Jillian Cantor and The Distant Hours by Kate Morton. Thanks Julie!

Next to arrive was a package from HarperCollins UK which also contained two books (both for upcoming review). The books were Mum on the Run by Fiona Gibson and A Surprise Party by Sue Welfare. I just love the whimsical UK covers!

Ariella Papa, a new addition to The Girlfriends Book Club, sent me an eCopy of her book Momfriends for future review.

HarperCollins Canada sent me a copy of Homecoming by Cathy Kelly, which comes out in Canada soon.

Finally, St. Martin's Griffin sent me a copy of The Murderer's Daughters by Randy Susan Meyers.

I'm so excited about all of the new books that I have to read! What was in your mailbox last week?

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! Each week we share which books we found in our mailboxes, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to towering TBR piles and out-of-control wish lists (as I can personally attest to). Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at The Printed Page and is currently on tour. Our host for February is Library of Clean Reads. Thanks Laura!

Last week brought four new books into my house, and I'm pretty excited about each and every one of them.

First to arrive was A Girl Like You by Gemma Burgess. This one has been on my wish list for a while: if you were to sum up my biggest reading weakness in three words they would be "British Chick Lit". I just can't resist! I'm almost done this one already and I can assure you that it didn't disappoint.

Next to arrive were two motivational books by Richard Fast. 29 Days...to Your Perfect Weight (written with Michele Bertolin) and 29 Days...to Your Life Without Cigarettes. Both include access to the accompanying online program, and I can tell you that just from reading the introduction to the book about weight loss that it will be incredibly helpful. This isn't a program that you embark on when you want to lose weight for a temporary period of time, but rather one that you follow when you want to make lifelong changes for a healthier you, which is exactly what I'm looking for. If you would like to read more about my weight loss journey (I'm at the very beginning of what I hope will be some positive changes in my life), I'll be blogging about it here.

My final arrival last week was a copy of The Liberation of Alice Love by Abby McDonald. I won't be able to resist this story about a woman whose identity is stolen for long!

That's what was in my mailbox last week- what was in yours?

Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is where we share which books made their way into our homes the previous week. Originally hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page, Mailbox Monday is on tour. This month our host is Rose City Reader. Read on, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to TBR mountains and out-of-control wish lists!

I'm a little (but only a little) embarrased to admit how many books made their way into my home last week, either through the mail or through the magic of eBooks. Last week's arrivals were:

Hard Copy Additions:

Breakfast at Stephanie's by Sue Margolis
This arrived in my mailbox courtesy of the wonderful Melissa A. over at Chick Lit Central: The Blog who believes in sharing the book love. Thanks Melissa!

Moonface: A True Romance by Angela Balcita
Thanks to the publisher and TLC Book Tours for sending me this one for an upcoming tour!

One Bird's Choice by Iain Reid
Once again, thanks to the publisher and TLC Book Tours for sending this to me.

The Last Will of Moira Leahy by Therese Walsh
This one arrived courtesy of the author via a contest on the I Bet We Can Make These Books Bestsellers group on Facebook.

The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown
This was a contest win from the wonderful The Divining Wand blog, and Larramie was kind enough to express ship it to me when I told her how badly I wanted to read this. Thanks Larramie, I am loving it as much as you said I would!

eBook additions:

There's Cake in my Future by Kim Gruenenfelder
I bought this one with a gift card (and a 35% off coupon!) because I heard about it on Chick Lit Central and it was promptly added to my wish list. Yay! My first eBook purchase (vs. getting it for free).

Elder Wonder Comes of Age by Jaron Summers
This one was free with a coupon code, and I hope to get to it in the future. Want your own free copy? Check out my post here.

Ivory Joe by Martyn Burke
Another free download from Bev Editions. Get your own copy here!

No Cure For the Broken Hearted by Kenneth Rosenberg
This copy came courtesy of the author for review at a future date. Thank-you!

I believe that's it, and I apologize if you sent me a book this past week and I neglected to mention it. Now if only I didn't have kids, a job, and a house to clean- I would be able to read a lot faster! What was in your mailbox last week?

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! Each Monday we share which books we found in our mailboxes the week before, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to towering TBR piles and out-of-control wish lists! This month our host is Rose City Reader. Thanks!

Last week was a great week in books for me, with lots of exciting new arrivals. In my mailbox I found:

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Her Brother's Shotgun Wedding by Noreen Riley: Love the title!

Wither by Lauren DeStefano: As I wrote about in my Sunday Salon post, this one is out of my comfort zone, but I'm excited to give it a try!

Born Under a Lucky Moon by Dana Precious: For an upcoming tour, book releasing on Feburary 8, 2011.

Walking With Elephants by Karen S. Bell: Also for an upcoming TLC book tour.

Skipping a Beat by Sarah Pekkanen: I was insanely excited to find this in my mailbox after work on Friday night. I'm about halfway through, and yes, it is as good as the reviewers have been saying!

The Bird House by Kelly Simmons: A bonus in the package with Sarah Pekkanen's book. I'm excited to give it a try!

That's it for me for last week! What was in your mailbox?

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! Each week we share which books made their way into our homes, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to towering TBR piles and out-of-control wish lists! Originally hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page, Mailbox Monday is on tour and this month is being hosted by Rose City Reader. Thanks!

Two new arrivals made their way into my mailbox last week, and they arrived on the same day! (Go figure). In my mailbox on Wednesday was a copy of Remedies by Kate Ledger, who was kind enough to send me a signed copy when I mentioned on Facebook that her book was on my wish list. A big thank-you to Kate for taking the time to send me such a nice gift!

Also in my mailbox was a copy of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakthrough by Ruth Pennebaker, for an upcoming TLC Book Tour. I've already started this one about three generations of women living under the same roof and I'm enjoying it so far!

Not in my physical mailbox, but in my e-mail inbox last week was an advanced copy of Kristan Higgins' upcoming release, My One and Only, via Netgalley and courtesy of the publisher. I really loved her book All I Ever Wanted, and I'm about halfway through this one and loving it as well.

That's what was in my mailbox. What was in yours?

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! Originally hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page, Mailbox Monday is currently on tour. Our host for the month of December is Lady Q of Let Them Read Books.

I've been making good on my personal commitment to not overwhelm myself with review books, as evidenced by my quiet mailbox last week. However, I won't tell you about the six review books that I accepted this week, nor will I tell you about the trip that I made to my favourite used bookstore, where I traded in a box of my pre-loved books for ten new additions to my TBR.

First to arrive in my mailbox was a contest win courtesy of author Amy Rickman. I won a copy of her book Gleeful!, which is an unoffical guide to the TV series. I'm a serious Gleek. I actually bought my DVR after I had to miss one week's episode due to other commitments. True story, I'm a little embarrased to admit. Granted, I haven't had to miss an episode since! I can't wait to read all of the dirt about one of my favourite TV shows, and there are some pretty cool pictures in there as well.

My other arrival last week was a copy of UpCountry by R.M. Doyon, which I will be reviewing in the new year. I love that the author is Canadian, and this looks to be a fast paced read.

That was what was in my mailbox last week. What was in yours?

Mailbox Monday

Welcome to Mailbox Monday! It was originally hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page, but is currently on tour. November's host is Julie of Knitting and Sundries. Each week we share which books we got in the mail, but be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to overflowing TBR piles and ginormous wish lists!

This week brought three new books to my TBR pile, the result of an exciting win courtesy of author Therese Fowler.

Description from Goodreads: Meg Powell and Carson McKay were raised side by side on their families’ farms, bonded by a love that only deepened as they grew. Everyone in their small rural community in northern Florida thought that Meg and Carson would always be together. But at twenty-one, Meg was presented with a marriage proposal she could not refuse, forever changing the course of her life.

Seventeen years later, Meg’s marriage has become routine, and she spends her time juggling the demands of her medical practice, the needs of her widowed father, and the whims of her rebellious teenage daughter, Savannah, who is confronting her burgeoning sexuality in a dangerous manner and pushing her mother away just when she needs her most. Then, after a long absence, Carson returns home to prepare for his wedding to a younger woman. As Carson struggles to determine where his heart and future lie, Meg makes a shocking discovery that will upset the balance of everyone around her.

Description from Goodreads: Celebrity talk show host Blue Reynolds is the queen of daytime television—she is smart, funny, and as down-to-earth as her adoring fans. In the eyes of the world, she has it all. But no one knows about the secret she has harbored for the last twenty years—a secret that could destroy her image, her reputation, and her career. Twenty years ago, she gave birth to a son and put him up for adoption through illegal channels. And every day since, she’s been filled with regret. Now Blue has hired a private investigator to find her son, knowing full well the consequences.

A week in Key West to do her show on location brings Blue a much-needed change of pace—and an unexpected reunion with an old flame, Mitch Forrester. Helping him launch a television series may help her recapture the kind of genuine romance and affection long missing from her life. But it also means having to deal with Mitch’s disapproving son, Julian, who is only nine years younger than Blue. Emotionally battered from his years as a war photographer in the world’s most dangerous hotspots, Julian struggles to get close to his father while making his disdain for Blue crystal clear—which makes his desire for her all the more shocking.

As serendipity and scandal collide, Therese Fowler’s passionate, illuminating novel takes a dramatic turn deep into our own hearts, as the healing power of love—family love, romantic love, and self-love—transforms pain and regrets into promises and second chances.

Description from Goodreads: Melanie Hoffman has accomplished three things in life she is truly proud of: first, she found Andrew, a man who loved her despite her size. Second, she left her cushy job as a lawyer to open a cafe specializing in delicious food that is also healthy. And finally, Mel lost half her body weight through dieting and exercise. She’s finally happy, healthy, and becoming content with life.

It’s an under-the-belt blow, then, when Andrew announces he’s leaving Melanie – for a woman twice her size. She’s also struggling financially while she’s trying to make the cafe a success. Trying to rebuild, Mel turns to her fellow employees and they help her realize who she really is and what family means.

I'm excited to read each of these books, and am especially excited that both Reunion and Souvenir were signed copies! That was what was in my mailbox last week- what was in yours?

Mailbox Monday

Originally hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page, Mailbox Monday is on tour! This month it is being hosted by Avis at she reads and reads. Mailbox Monday is the place where we can share which new books found their way into our mailboxes last week. Be warned: Mailbox Monday can lead to overflowing TBR piles and huge wish lists!

Last week four new books found their way into my home, all of them review books. The first to arrive was Falling Home by Karen White, courtesy of the publicist. I'm almost done this one, so expect a review, guest post, and giveaway to be posted this week!

Next to arrive was Infinite Quest by John Edwards, courtesy of the publicist. I'm not normally a fan of self-help books, and to be honest I'm not even a big fan of John Edwards (only because he doesn't frequent the shows that I watch), but I read a sample from this book and was hooked. I think that he'll have a lot of practical advice in his latest book.

Next in the mailbox was a copy of Hollywood Ending by Lucie Simone, courtesy of the publicist, for an upcoming book tour. I love the cover of this one- it looks almost optimistic.

The final arrival this week was a copy of The Tapestry of Love by Rosie Thornton, courtesy of the author. I'm looking forward to reading this one, especially as it has been getting some positive feedback from other readers.

That was it for my mailbox for last week- what was in yours?
