Review: "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Jill Mansell

If you've ever read this blog there's a good chance that you'll know that I love Jill Mansell. She is my bookish equivalent of peanut butter ice cream, my literary comfort food. If I'm having a bad day (or a bad week!) one of the many Jill Mansell books in my collection is sure to cheer me up! As soon as her books come out in the UK I make sure I order them to ship here, and I was extra delighted to find that I could order an eCopy for this release! Instant gratification!

Don't Want To Miss a Thing tells the story of Dexter Yates, who has money and as many women as he can handle at one time at his disposal. He's living a carefree existence in London when his older sister suddenly dies, leaving him to care for her eight-month-old daughter, Delphi. Dex already adores Delphi, but the thought of caring for an entire human being terrifies him. Somehow the woman who lives next door to his cottage in Cotswold, Molly, convinces him that he's up to the task and he sets about figuring out how to take proper custody of his niece.

Dex and Molly spend the next several months denying the spark that exists between them. Although they try dating other people and they continue to deny their attraction to one another, the spark fans into a full flame and it will be up to them to take that frightening leap of faith into coupledom. Are they brave enough to take that next step?

This is another absolutely enjoyable book from Jill Mansell! Her lovable characters, comical misunderstandings and charming plot delight and I couldn't put the book down. Although the main story was about Dex and Molly and baby Delphi, the minor characters all had an important part to play. Those subplots were like bonuses and I loved all the drama that occurred in the background of Molly and Dex's blossoming romance.

Don't Want to Miss a Thing is a must-read in my opinion. If you're looking for something very different from her previous books you likely won't find it here because she follows her usual format, but if you're looking for something comforting, warm, and familiar you will have found it in this fabulous addition to the Jill Mansell collection.
