The Sunday Post

For the first time I will be linking my post here to others who have posted The Sunday Post! This meme is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Thanks for hosting!

I am writing this during a rare (!) quiet moment at home. The hubby is off to band practice, my youngest son is at a birthday party, and the other two boys are out playing with the dog. I almost don't know what to do with myself! Almost, but not quite! Although the mountain of laundry and the copious number of chores that seem to build up when I work 48 hours in a week are waiting for me, I thought that I had better take advantage of this rare moment of peace and reflect on my week.

This week was a busy one, as the weeks tend to be! I was on afternoon shift meaning that I worked from 3 pm- 11:30 pm. I used to hate working the afternoon shift but I have come to enjoy certain things about it now. After I get the boys on to the bus I have a quiet house. This week I used that time to catch up on a bit of housework and to hit the gym. I caught a wicked cold at the end of the week and took Friday off from the gym (only because I didn't want to be coughing and sneezing on my fellow gym-goers!). I'm feeling quite a bit better today and am hoping to be back at the gym by Tuesday. I miss it when I'm gone too long!

Since I'm not a football fan and neither is my husband we will not be spending the afternoon watching the Superbowl. Instead I will pick the youngest up from the party, pick my husband up from practice, and we will go and visit good friends of ours. We are expecting a winter storm tonight and tomorrow morning (25-35 cm of snow) so depending on road conditions the boys may have the day off tomorrow. I, however, will be off to work. Why don't grown-ups ever get snow days??? I don't think it's fair!

This past week brought some fantastic new books into my home (and eReader!). I received Dietland by Sarai Walker,  Confetti Confidential: They Do, I Don't by Susan Murphy, Blokebusters by Sam Carlton, and The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan (all from Netgalley). I also received The Lake Season by Hannah McKinnon, Secrets in the Sky by Pauline Wiles, and It Was Me All Along by Andie Mitchell. Am I the only one who goes on to Netgalley and checks out the books when I'm having a bad day? For some reason it's always an instant pick-me-up to see all of the new books coming out!

I read two books last week and started a third! That's like a world record for me! I finished off Jill Mansell's Three Amazing Things About You and then I read If You're Not the One by Jemma Forte. I started Leftovers by Stella Newman last night, which is good so far but I'm not very far in to it!

That's it from me for now! I have a new recipe that I've been itching to try out for a healthier cookie. It calls for ripe bananas, dark chocolate chips, natural peanut butter and oats. It sounds pretty good so I'm going to make it now and see how it goes. Happy Sunday!

  2. Oh those cookies sound fantastic! I'm curious about them because the combination sounds yummy. I have a Jill Mansell coming up as well. Not that one but I'm still looking forward to it. What I've read of hers I've really enjoyed. Have a great week!

  3. I use that housework/gardening and such to do audiobooks. It turns chores into pleasure. My post: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2015/01/shadow-in-summer.html

    1. The cookies turn out great! I love that they are a healthier and therefore less guilty version of a cookie! I am very excited to read "It Was Me All Along"!
