Review: "The Reluctant Elf" by Michele Gorman

When her beloved Aunt Kate ends up in the hospital days before Christmas, single mother Lottie finds herself and her daughter travelling to Aunt Kate's B&B to try to impress a VIP hotel reviewer whose opinion is crucial to keeping the B&B open. The only problem is that Lottie's domestic skills are definitely lacking, and the B&B is not in the shape that one would hope with the arrival of guests only days away.

With the help of cab driver/ handyman Danny, will Lottie be able to get the inn in top shape before the reviewer and his dysfunctional family arrive? Or will it be curtains for her Aunt Kate's ancient B&B and her dreams of running one?

I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas novella from author Michele Gorman. The characters are as imperfect as they come, and they certainly won't be running their own B&B any time soon, but they are not without their share of charm and you can't help but hope that the reviewer will love them as much as we do. I also enjoyed the holiday spirit woven throughout the book. I love Christmas and I enjoy any novellas based around the season!

As with most novellas that I read I couldn't help but want more of the story. Danny and Lottie's story was definitely cute, but their romance lacked the depth that stories that take place in full-length novels do. That's a compliment to the author, though. I always want more when it comes to Michele Gorman!

The Reluctant Elf is a charming holiday novella that is sure to please all fans of chick lit who are looking for an entertaining and fun holiday read. My thanks to the author for providing me with a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
